Electricity Ministry Concludes Deals to Buy Equipment for Transfer and Distribution Networks

jouhina news, Electricity Ministry announced that it has concluded a number of deals for buying equipment and materials for power transfer and distribution networks at a total value of about SYP 1,600 billion. In a statement to SANA, Electricity Minister Imad Khamis said the Ministry has signed 6 deals with local and foreign companies, pointing out that these companies have started supplying the required materials and equipment needed for supporting the power sector. Khamis noted that large parts of these materials and equipment were exhausted during the current crisis in the country as they were being directly targeted by the armed terrorist groups. In another context, the Minister stressed that maintenance and repair works are continuing in different areas and provinces to rehabilitate the electricity networks and transmission lines damaged by the sabotage acts of the terrorist groups. Maintenance and repair workshops will start work in Daraya area in Damascus Countryside on Thursday to rehabilitate the electricity networks and help restore power to the citizens in the area as soon as possible.
