NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Friday said the NATO has no plans to enforce a no-fly zone over any parts of Syria to protect Turkey, ruling out a change in the stance on Syria which says that the solution should be a political one.
Speaking at a monthly press conference, Rasmussen added that the NATO mission in Turkey aims to protect its citizens against a potential missile shelling from inside Syria, which is the reason behind deploying the NATO Patriot missiles
He affirmed that the NATO has no other plans, noting however that securing "our ally" is one of the NATO obligations in the case of an escalation.
