The Committee of Supporting the Syrian Freed and Detained Prisoners in Israeli Jails on Sunday handed a message to the Head of the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Damascus including a review of the bad living conditions suffered by the prisoners and the brutal acts they are exposed to at the hands of by the occupied authorities.
The Committee hailed in its message, which came on the occasion of the Syrian Prisoner's Day, the efforts exerted by the ICRC to improve the living and humanitarian conditions of the prisoners from the occupied Golan and Palestine.
The message stressed that the prisoners are being subjected to the worst and ugliest forms of oppressive and barbarous practices inside the Israeli jails, warning that these bad and difficult conditions are becoming very alarming regarding the prisoners' lives.
The Committee called upon the international community with all its UN legal rights and humanitarian organizations to assume their responsibilities and work to end the suffering of the Syrian and Arab prisoners by pressuring the Israeli occupation authorities to release them.
For her part, Head of the ICRC mission in Damascus, Marianne Gasser, pointed out that among the Committee's mission's priorities is paying visits to the Syrian and Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails to make sure that they are getting "good humanitarian care" and that "they have acceptable living conditions.
Gasser stressed that the message will be delivered to the Headquarters of the ICRC in Geneva, adding that the ICRC missions in the occupied lands and in Israel will follow up on the issue to ensure providing good care to the Syrian and Palestinian prisoners.
In a statement to SANA, Head of the Committee of Supporting the Prisoners, Ali Younis, said the message aims to let the international community and the ICRC HQ in Geneva know about the suffering of the prisoners.
He added that delivering the message comes "as an expression of loyalty to the Syrian and Arab prisoners in the Israeli jails and appreciation of their sacrifices and steadfastness despite their suffering."
