Moscow: No ban on exporting weapons to Syria

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that there is no ban on exporting weapons to Syria and Moscow’s cooperation with Damascus is continuous, adding “the only aim to offer military aid to Syria is combating terrorism.”

Zakharova, in a press statement, said Russia is astonished at Bulgaria’s rejection to open its airspace to the Russian airplanes which transport humanitarian aid to Syria, affirming that the transported cargo onboard the Russian plane was humanitarian aid which is allocated to the civilians.

“Nevertheless, there is not any ban on exporting weapons to Syria,” she added.

Zakharova went on to say that her country was disappointed with the US State Department’s rejection to comment on reports referring to pressures practiced by Washington on the Bulgarian authorities in order to close their airspace to prevent the Russian airplanes from crossing into Syria.

In a relevant context, Zakharova pointed out to Moscow’s readiness to cooperate with the EU in the domain of refugees, saying “we reiterate our willingness to a constructive participation with the EU in the field of immigration and seek a solution to this dangerous crisis in Syria.”

Kremlin has no information about new plan by di Mistura on Syria

Meanwhile, the Russian President’s Press spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Kremlin has no information about a plan being prepared by UN Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistrua to solve the crisis in Syria.

“We haven’t any stance towards an unavailable plan, and we can’t talk about anything which is not existed,” Peskov said in a press statement.

He added the Syrians themselves should determine their future, not foreign sides.
