Jalili: Combating terrorism basic for any political initiative

Representative of Islamic Revolution’s Leader at the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili affirmed on Wednesday that combating and overcoming terrorism is essential for any initiative related to the political salutation to the crisis in Syria.

“It is useless to have any project for a political solution in light of the presence of Takfiri terrorist organizations that kill, destroy and pose threat to Syria and the whole region,” Jalili said during a meeting with Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran Adnan Mahmoud.

He added that any side in the world has no right to impose its dictates on the Syrian people, the only side who has the right to determine future and select their president through constitutional and legal bases.

Mahmoud, for his part, affirmed that “changing balance of powers on land to overcome terrorism will impose new equations which would serve the interests of the Syrian people.”
