Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Mohammad Zafer Mihbek, called upon the Planning and Competitiveness Enhancement team at the Ministry to confront makers of global economic indicators who are intentionally placing Syria, among other countries, in back rankings relying on reports and studies that are far from objectivity and accuracy.
Meeting with workers at the Planning and Competitiveness Enhancement Department at the Ministry on Saturday, Mihbek stressed the those indicators' makers are conniving with foreign parties seeking to put Syria in any economic field at the same level of backward or underdeveloped countries.
He added that analyses and statistics which are contrary to the reality of the Syrian economic situation are being resorted to in these classifications with the aim of aborting any type of achievement carried out by the Syrian government in whatever domain.
Minister Mihbek highlighted that those parties work on showing that they are among the top rankings in the various international indicators ignoring the increase in the level of murder and rape crimes and the percentage of prisoners and criminals in their societies, not mentioning their waging of unjustifiable wars against other countries.
The Minister called for intensifying efforts to keep away from the typical ways in work and rely on the scientific approach that is based on research and documents to know, analyze and seriously deal with Syria's ranking in those indicators.
He stressed the necessity of working to scientifically refute the contents and unfair classifications included in the reports used in specifying Syria's position in those indicators through highlighting the achievements on the various economic and other levels and avoiding the negative points in work and performance.
Minister Mihbek stressed that the siege imposed on the Syrian economy demands that the workers in the economic field defend it by all means depending on the rich and diverse economic potentials of Syria and its immense human resources.
