A senior leader within the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was confirmed dead in al-Qaryatain city in the eastern countryside of Homs province.
The Jordanian Hazem Mneizil Abu Rumman, who is nicknamed “Abu al-Qaqa”, was believed to be one of ISIS chief leaders, according to social media pages affiliated to the terrorist organization.
Abu al-Qaqa was killed in army airstrikes on ISIS positions in al-Qaryatain.
The pages quoted sources they said were close to the Salafi Movement in the Jordanian Salt city, Abu al-Qaqa’s birthplace, as saying that he left the Jordanian territories for Syria three years ago, and that he was in charge of al-Qariyatain area.
