Russian Duma renews firm support stances towards Syria

Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma Nikolai Levichev reiterated Russia’s firm stances towards Syria.

During his meeting with the delegation of the follow-up committee of the Syrian National Dialogue, visiting Moscow recently, Levichev said that the Council consists of four political blocs, three of them are opposition blocks; the Duma blocs differ towards many issues, mainly the internal issues, but they are united towards the international issues, particularly the crisis in Syria

The crisis in Syria has become during the last few years one of the most serious challenges towards the international community, he said, asserting that the stance towards the crisis in Syria tests the efficiency of the international structure of the political relations among the countries and its viability.

He expressed Russian people’s regret towards destruction of the outstanding antiquity of Baalshamin Temple in Palmyra at the hands of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorists.

For his part, Head of the delegation, State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar said All countries are today talking about the necessity of finding a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria, including the hostile countries, but we are convinced that those countries want, throughout their daily behavior, to move to a political process with continued war on Syria and without stopping violence and terrorism

The West wants to move to a political process by its tools, which it previously called foreign opposition and under the pressure of continued violence on the ground and under the claim of fighting terrorism, but without a true fight against it, Haidar elaborated.

He continued.. what the Syrian people want is to continue the track of Moscow to ensure a better platform for launching the political process in Geneva3, which the west is accelerating.

In an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow, Mohammad Feras Nadim an official at the Syrian Democratic Party said .. Russian support to the Syrian people would achieve the global peace and security, as well as it constitutes a support to the political solution

For her part, head of the National Youth Party for Justice and Development, Perwin Ibrahim described Duma discussions as serious, hailing the Russian parliamentarians firm stances in supporting the Syrian people .

Member of the Syrian People Assembly Hussein al- Ragheb, in turn, stressed the necessity of the Russian continued support to Syria’s legitimate issue and to the Syrian army and people in the face of terrorism.
