Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem discussed on Thursday with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi the bilateral relations between Syria and China and means to develop them in all sectors.
During the meeting which was held at the headquarter of Chinese Foreign Ministry, the two sides discussed means to resolve the crisis in Syria and the developments in the Middle East region and the efforts to combat terrorist organizations, mainly ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra.
The viewpoints of the two sides were identical regarding the necessity of launching a Syria-Syrian dialogue without foreign interference based on the Syrian people’s right to decide their future.
Both sides stressed the importance of the inseparability of counterterrorism efforts and reaching a political solution.
Al-Moallem reviewed the Syrian stance, affirming that a progress in the efforts to reach a political solutions is linked to victory over terrorism which has become a matter of global priority and requires pushing forward the international efforts to dry up the sources of terrorism and prevent the infiltration of terrorists across the border, pointing out to the interdependence of the UN Security Council Resolutions NO 2253 and 2254 and combating terrorism and finding a political solution.
The minister added that any attempt be any international party to interfere in the Syrians’ right to decide their future is rejected.
In turn, Yi said that China welcomes the visit of al-Moallem and supports the Syrian position on the interdependence of the tracks of fighting terrorism and a political solution, noting China’s readiness to play an important role side by side with Syria in these two tracks.
The Chinese minister announced that his country will continue to provide humanitarian aid for Syria and to increase its levels and meet Syria’s needs and coordinate with Syria to restore security and stability to it.
